After spending a few weeks in Thailand we got to try a fair amount of the food they had to offer, this list is the best food to try in Bangkok.
Pineapple Fried Rice
Myer’s favourite- This rice dish often comes served in a pineapple (Perfect for that insta shot!). But we’re not joking when we say it tastes good! You get the savoury flavours from the rice and vegetables then you bite into some pineapple and it is just a sweet and juicy pop of flavour. Usually served with chicken and prawns.
If you feel like making this at home we found a really simple recipe to follow here.
Chicken and Cashew Nut
In Thailand this is still considered a Chinese dish however it’s slowly becoming a Thai dish in it’s own right. Packed with flavour and the spice is usually optional. The sauce is extremely moreish and the cashew nuts give it a nice crunch.
If you fancy giving it a go at home we found this recipe.
Thai Green Curry
This Bright coloured curry is one of the most popular curries in Thailand. This is considered to be the spiciest of the Thai curries but thanks to the coconut milk that’s added to the dish it is also quite sweet. The base of the curry is made from young green chilli’s which is what makes it hotter than the other curries. The meat used is normally chicken.
If you’d like to make it at home we found this recipe.
Whilst the red curry is still spicy and a little sweet, this is a bit more savoury than the green. The base of this curry is made from bigger crushed red chilli’s which is how it gets it’s colour. The meat used is normally chicken.
If you’d like to try a red curry at home here is a recipe we found.
The yellow curry has a richer taste witch is sweet and much milder than the other two curries above- Myer can’t stand spicy food but can eat this one. The base is made from tumeric, cumin yellow mustard seed, nutmeg, kaffir and lime juice. The meat used is usually chicken.
Here is a recipe for you to follow from home.
Matt’s favourite- It doesn’t pack as much spice as the other curries so is a good place to start when it comes to trying them. It is influenced by Indian curries and is by far the sweetest of them all. The base is made up of cinnamon, cardamon, nutmeg and cloves. It often comes with big chunks of potato. The meat used is normally chicken.
This is a great recipe for you to follow from home.
This is one of the most popular noodle dishes and you will likely see it everywhere. We can see why as it is delicious! Pad Thai is made with rice noodles the sauce is usually sweet with a tiny hint of spice served with lime and peanuts to give it more savoury taste. Most commonly it is served with chicken and prawn.
Use this recipe if you’d like to try it from home.
